Event Series

FOLCS’ Event Series stand at the intersection of culture, current affairs, and the arts. They encourage discussion about the way these matters influence society and the artistic imagination. We aim to bring people into a thoughtful setting where the big ideas of the day come to life, through several different formats.

Conversation Series: Hear from intellectuals, artists, government leaders, writers, activists, and other public figures in dialogue over timely cultural and political issues.

Film Series: Explore current events and the cultural climate through cinema, one of our most powerful and expressive artistic mediums.

Conversations on Essential Cinema: Look back on classic arthouse films, broken down in conversation with very special guests.

International Short Film Competition (ISFC): Experience the work of aspiring filmmakers from around the world through our annual Awards Night, featuring screenings, panel discussions, and a red carpet.

Trials & Error: Witness intimate conversations on important trials that have captured the public’s attention and imagination.

Law of the Land: Reflect on the Supreme Court’s major rulings of the past year and their broad social impacts through comprehensive, captivating analyses.

Theater of Law: Take in a dramatic reading of an ancient Greek tragedy, performed by a rotating cast of stellar actors and followed by a Conversation with the audience.
