Politics and government, throughout the ages, has always been funny. What better way to spend the night after the midterm elections than convulsed in laughter, and a little bit smarter? FOLCS, in collaboration with The Friars Club, hosted an evening of political humor and commentary, focusing on the midterm elections, the 2016 presidential election and our present political moment. Comedians, political leaders, and political journalists appeared on stage in discussion and performed short sets.
Guests included Judy Gold, Gale Brewer, Scott Blakeman, Randy Credico and John Fugelsang.
Judy has had stand-up specials on HBO, Comedy Central and LOGO. She has also written and starred in two critically acclaimed, Off-Broadway hit shows: The Judy Show – My Life as a Sitcom (Outer Critics Circle Nomination), and 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother (GLAAD Media Award – Outstanding NY Theater, Drama Desk Nomination – Actor).
Judy received rave reviews portraying Gremio in The Public Theater’s all female production of The Taming of The Shrew for Shakespeare in the Park. She also co-starred in Off-Broadway’s Clinton! The Musical, and Disasater! The Musical.

John Fugelsang is an American actor, television personality and comedian.
He’s been murdered on CSI, interviewed 2 Beatles on separate continents in the same week, and famously once got Mitt Romney’s advisor to call Governor Romney an ‘etch a sketch’ on CNN. John hosts Tell Me Everything weekdays on SiriusXM Insight #121. Scott Blakeman is a Friar, and is an original member of the political comedy show Laughing Liberally. He was the resident comedian on MSNBC’s live coverage of the White House Correspondents Dinner, and has also appeared on CNN, Fox News and RT. Scott tours colleges, theaters, synagogues and mosques with Palestinian Muslim-American comedian Dean Obeidallah in their Standup for Peace comedy show.
